EuroGeographics General Assembly 2014 – registration open

The summer is in full swing, number of our members are enjoying the well rewarded holidays. Our team is not an exception, but we do our best to keep going and continue in the delivery of our tasks.

The preparatory team in Chisinau was working hard and made all necessary arrangements for opening the registration for our biggest event of the year. I hope all of you, our members, received the invitation to the General Assembly, we were pleased to see the first registration coming soon after we launched the invitation: Mr. Magnus Gudmundsson, head of NLS Iceland is the winner this year! Congratulations!

This year’s General Assembly has been organised as a Knowledge Exchange for you and your colleagues with a good mixture of presentations, discussions and informal networking. Interesting topics have been put together in close cooperation with our Management Board, most of the speakers – external or from our community already confirmed their intention to come, so we believe, you will find this year’s event again as a very valuable contribution to your professional life.

The General Assembly will commence at 19.00 on Sunday 28th September with a welcome drinks reception at the Leogrand Hotel & Conference Centre, the venue for this year’s General Assembly. It will formally conclude at 16.30 am on Tuesday 30th September, followed by a Gala dinner at 19.00.

On Wednesday 1st October the first meeting of UN-GGIM: Europe will be held with a gala dinner at the Palace of Republic in Chisinau in the evening. The formal invitation for this will be sent to you soon separately.

The theme of this year’s General Assembly is ‘National Cadastral, Land registry and Mapping activities in the Future of Europe’. The draft agenda and all Practical Information, including how to register for both meetings is on the EuroGeographics 2014 General Assembly website.

As the time is running and just a day after our events the famous Wine festival starts in Chisinau, we encourage you to make your arrangements to attend the General Assembly now and certainly no later than 28th August, when preferential hotel rates end and accommodation convenient to the venue may no longer be available.

We are looking forward to welcoming you all in Chisinau!
